About
Currently, there is a significant gap in comprehensive financial wellness training within the UME and GME curricula. Aspiring medical professionals seek guidance on strategies for debt repayment, home buying, acquiring disability insurance, and minimizing tax liabilities – topics beyond the scope of advice typically provided by their financial aid departments. Our comprehensive, longitudinal curriculum addresses these diverse financial areas, offering physicians practical insights into the specific steps they should be taking.
Students, residents, and fellows have consistently expressed to program leadership their desire for more education in this area. To address this need and empower medical students and physicians to make well-informed financial decisions, we have developed a 4-year longitudinal financial wellness curriculum. This program has been approved by the curriculum committee at a prominent UME Institution. The courses are taught by licensed, experienced financial professionals.
